We joined a film competition for the first time!
Based around the given theme "Not Too Small", 3 is a story of a man who, after a reprimanding from his boss and breakup with his girlfriend, feels insignificant and small in the world. A third encounter, however, makes him realise that he could be useful for something after all.
This is the first short film made by tokuAsia Pictures (the previous Short Cuts were made by tokuAsia Productions) and also the first time we have been involved in a 48 hour competition. For this time round, we had the luxury of having a car and an office, so thus began crafting our idea overnight in the office, and we went from Punggol to Toa Payoh to Orchard, back to the office, to Sengkang and then to Jurong and back to the office in one day just to film stuff and complete the editing. It was then a huge challenge to wake up and make it to Bugis Plus by 12PM on Sunday to submit our entry!
Every video produced is a new learning experience for our crew, and looking at some of the entries from the other competitors, we have great hopes for the future of Singapore filmmaking!
Made as an entry to the 9th Fly By Night Video Challenge (2012) organised by the Objectifs Centre for Photography and Filmmaking, and shot on a Panasonic Lumix GH2.
